Minnows / Sea Stars Newsletter: October 2011

The school year is off to a great start, and all our little Minnows and Sea Stars are doing just swimmingly!  I’m sure we’d all agree that communication
between parents and teachers, especially at this young age, is of the utmost importance, and ultimately only benefits your children. So in an effort to
expand the lines of communication we’re excited to begin offering a Minnows/Sea Stars newsletter!  This newsletter will
give us a chance to correspond with helpful hints and reminders, current events, and any exciting projects we’re working on.
We’ll be posting our newsletter in the infant section of our website and also sending it out via email to our Minnow and Sea Star parents.  We look forward to hearing your feedback!

*Helpful Hints and Reminders:

- The Minnows and Sea Stars rooms are generally combined in the Minnows room for staffing purposes from approximately 7:00 – 8:30 am and
again from 5:00- 6:30 pm.

- If Sea Stars are getting dropped off after 8:30 am or picked up before 5:00 pm please drop off in the Sea Stars room using the front
door, as we usually have sleeping babies in Minnows and would love to not wake
them!

-When entering and exiting through the Minnows door, please try to always take notice of the “sleeping babies” sign and be as quiet as
possible.

- Please leave car seats only if necessary, in an effort to free up space in our sleep room.

- To avoid confusion and misplaced items, please label everything with your child’s full name or initials (bottles, cups, blankets,
diaper and wipe packs, etc.)

- It is so helpful if parents make their child’s crib in minnows at the beginning of the week, and bedding in both rooms should be taken
home and laundered at weeks end.

- Please put away bottles, cups, food and clothes in appropriate places (we try not to remove items from diaper bags, as we are
unsure of what is meant to stay or go.)

- It is vital to communicate with teachers what is going on with your child daily and only helps us meet your child’s specific needs (i.e.
– what type of night did your child have, inform us of doctors’ visits, any ailments, viruses, ear infections, teething, etc., have you given your child
Tylenol, or what medications they might be on or if you’d like us to administer any medicines…)

- Please also remember to leave whatever comforts your child or makes them happy – binkies, lovies, etc.

*Current / Upcoming
Events:

- We’re excited for our upcoming Halloween Parade, which will take place Monday, October 31st and will begin at 10:00 am.  Yes, Minnows and Sea Stars do participate so
please feel free to bring a Halloween costume for your child that day!  It should be a fun and fabulous event and all parents are invited to join in the festivities, if you are unable to attend, we
will be taking lots of pictures.

*Minnow / Sea Star
projects:

-We have been quite busy in our rooms working on many different art projects to spruce up our rooms for the season, and we owe it all
to our young budding artists!  Our infants love to make art and it’s a wonderful way to develop fine motor skills
and inspire creativity and individuality!

-We paint with our fingers, our toes, we use markers, crayons, glue, stickers, and are always trying to come up with new ways to
inspire our youngsters and look forward to any suggestions or ideas you as parents might have!

-Check out our spooky footprint ghosts, our festive fall leaf wreaths, and our pumpkin patch to name a few.  I’m sure you’ll be impressed with your
child’s creative abilities!

*Notes:

-Many Minnow and Sea Star parents are often offering to donate items that their child may have outgrown at home.  Some things that are currently needed are
mobiles for cribs, a new swing and our needs are always changing so feel free to check in with us if have any items you’re trying to get rid of. We are
always open to donations and greatly appreciate your generosity!
