Dolphins

 

 

Welcome to the Dolphin room! We are very excited that you are giving us the opportunity to work with your child and take part in watching them grow. We look forward to a fun and exciting year.

 

Curriculum:

Throughout this school year we will foster your child's desire to learn by making learning fun and interesting. There will be many fun filled centers to explore throughout the classroom which will include a variety of academic activities. All of our lessons will be based on the Massachusetts Department of Education Guidelines. Throughout each theme the children will have the opportunity to explore many academic concepts. While preparing and carrying out lessons we keep in mind that each child is an individual and learns differently at their own pace. Our goal is for each child to develop a love of learning as well as making sure children are confident in themselves! Lesson plans will be posted on the Bulletin board to the right of the classroom door and weekly E-mails will be sent out as well. 

 

Special Events:

Twice a month our music teacher, Miss Nikki, visits the children. Under Nikki’s guidance the children become familiar with many types of music, explore instruments from various cultures, and follow musical patterns while exploring tempo and beat. Movement is also an important component of Miss Nikki's lessons. Miss Nikki always provides a highly interactive program. 

 

Birthdays:

Birthdays are also very exciting for children and should be celebrated! Children are welcome to bring in cupcakes or other special treats to share with their classmates. Please check with us so that we can inform parents of any classroom allergies.

 

What should we bring?

*Please make sure that your child's cubby has season appropriate extra clothes and a sweatshirt

*Lunchbox packed with lunch and snacks for throughout the day. Water and milk is provided by Sandcastles.

*A child sized sleeping bag or crib sheet and blanket to use on a school mat. Please make sure that sleep things are stored in a bag and that the bag is proportionate in size to their sleeping bag. Children are encouraged to put away their own sleep things and having a small storage bag makes this task more difficult.

 

Our goal here at Sandcastles is to provide a safe and stimulating environment where each child can grow, learn, and develop at their own pace. We want each child to believe they can do anything they put their mind to and as long as they keep trying they will succeed. We want each child to become confident and independent individuals who are ready to successfully move on to their "big school" next year.
