Center Director

Ms. Mo

Mo, a graduate of the University of New Hampshire,  joined Sandcastles in September of 2002 after teaching preschool and kindergarten in New Hampshire for three years. She originally joined our staff as the Pre-K teacher and program director and eventually took over as center director.  In 2012 Mo made the very difficult decision to step away from teaching and directing to spend time with her growing family. Happily she returned as director in 2017.  She brings with her 20 years of early education experience and a love of learning.  As a working mom herself, her goal is to create a cohesive home/school connection and works with families and children to provide a happy, safe, and nurturing environment for children to grow and learn.

Sea Turtles Teacher

Ms. Brittany

Ms. Brittany is the Center Assistant and the Sea Turtles teacher at Sandcastles. She works 8:00-6:30 M, T, W, Th. She grew up in a small town in Iowa and moved to the South Shore and started working at Sandcastles in 2009.

Ms. Brittany has worked in the childcare field since 1999. Her past experience ranges in ages infants through School Age, but she has found her niche in the Sea Turtles classroom. "My favorite thing about working with young children is watching them figure things out for the first time and seeing their reaction when they are able to do something by themselves for the first time."

Ms. Brittany enjoys spending time with her friends and family especially her nieces and nephews in Iowa. She loves watching college sports and cheering for her beloved Iowa Hawkeyes. Ms. Brittany also enjoys planting and maintaining the Sandcastles garden in the Spring and summer months and traveling around experiencing all New England has to offer. 

Minnows Teacher

Ms. Megan

Ms. Megan joined the Sandcastles team in 2012 but has been in the childcare field since she was 16. She has worked with children ages infant through kindergarten. Ms Megan is the Minnows teacher and her favorite part of working with infants (as well as other aged children) is watching each individual child develop each and every day from the little things such as sitting up on their own to reading a book on their own. 

Ms. Megan loves being with her family and friends. She has many nieces and nephews and loves going to Rockport with them. She also enjoys spending time in Grafton, New Hampshire with her boyfriend. She loves watching the Boston sports teams especially the Bruins. 

Minnows Teacher 

Ms. Lori

Ms. Lori has worked at Sandcastles for 20 years as an infant teacher.  Her love and understanding of our littlest people is amazing. She is truly a resource for new parents! Lori's favorite part of working with infants is being part of the very first learning experience of our students.  When not snuggling babies Lori enjoys spending time with her son and daughter and extended family.  

Guppies Teacher

Ms. Sandra

Ms Sandra joined the Sandcastle team in September 2019, to work in our Guppies classroom. She has been teaching children for 20 years, from infants to Preschool. Sandra has her associates’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Her favorite part of the day is to watch children thrive and explore their surroundings. In her spare time she spend it with her husband of 2 years and her 4 year old son.

Ms. Tayla

Ms. Tayla started working at Sandcastles in October 2018. She is a teacher in our Sea Star classroom.  When she has free time she likes to spend it with her friends and family which includes her 3 younger sisters and 3 younger brothers. Tayla can't wait to work with all of your children.

Ms. Priscilla

Ms. Priscilla began working at Sandcastles in 2017. She has 4 years experience in a center based program. She is the proud parent of one of the children in the Dolphins classroom. You can find her in the Guppies classroom Monday through Friday. Her favorite part about working with children is watching them learn new things. 

When she is not working she likes to spend time with her family and friends. 

Floating Teacher

Ms. Jessica

Ms.Jessica  is a Senior at Bridgewater State University studying to become a Speech Pathologist. With her free time, she enjoys playing musical instruments like the guitar and piano. Part time she works as an ABA technician helping children with autism gain more independence. And in the future as a Speech Pathologist she hopes to help children with autism find their voice. Ms. Jessica has been a teacher for over 7 years and her favorite thing about teaching is helping children reach their full potential and watching them reach important milestones.

Sea Horses Teacher

Ms. Ashley

Ms. Ashley is one of our teachers in the young toddler classroom. She has almost ten years of experience working with children. Ashley joined the Sandcastles team in March 2014. She started as a floater then found her place in the Sea Horse room in June. You will find Ms. Ashley at Sandcastles Tuesday-Friday from 7:00-5:30. 

Ashley graduated from Silver Lake in 2010 with her teacher certificate. She has experience working with children from young toddler to preschool age. Outside of Sandcastles Ashley spends time with her family and friends. Her favorite part of teaching is watching children explore things for the first time and seeing their reactions. 

Sea Stars Teacher

Ms. Becca

Ms. Becca has six years of experience in the childcare field, working with children ages infant through school age. She started at Sandcastles in 2016 as a floating teacher then decided to  become one of the Sea Horse teachers. 

Ms. Becca graduated in December 2017 from the University of Massachusetts -Boston studying early childhood education and psychology. 

She enjoys working with infants and toddlers because she feels it is very rewarding and she loves watching the children grow and learn new things everyday. 

In her free time, Ms. Becca enjoys going for runs and spending time with her friends and family in New Hampshire. 

Sea Otters Teacher

Ms. Courtney

Ms. Courtney is one of our Sea Otters teachers here at Sandcastles. She has been working with children for 10 years and has been at Sandcastles for over 2 years now. You can find her in all areas of the school. She works Monday- Friday 7:30-5:30. Along with working at the center she also babysits. 

Courtney graduated in 2010 from Silverlake Highschool with her certificate in teaching.  There she worked with children and learned how to run a classroom. She worked with the children for 3 years and studied child behavior and development. 

Ms. Courtney loves seeing the children's smiling faces when they learn something new, and how happy they get at the smallest things. During her free time she enjoys going to the movies, hanging with her friends, and playing with her two dogs. 

Sea Otters Teacher

Ms. Margi

Ms. Margi has nine years experience in the childcare field working with toddlers and two year olds. She has been with Sandcastles for one year and is currently one of our Sea Otter teachers. Margi enjoys working and playing with young children and messy art and activities. 

Margi has three grown children of her own and has been married for 29 years. Margi moved back to the Boston area from Charlotte, NC a year ago. not having her own children near by she enjoys the daily interaction with the Sandcastles families. In addition to teaching Margi enjoys visiting her children, bike riding, and exploring.

Ms. Heather

Ms. Heather joined the Sandcastles team in February 2018 as a teacher in the Sea Turtles classroom. After working in the middle school setting for eleven years she is looking forward to coming back to the preschool age children.

Ms. Heather has two grown sons and enjoys reading, traveling, and Boston sports.

Ms. Megan

Ms. Megan joined the Sandcastles team in April 2019. She has her Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, and has been working with young children for 15 years. She lives in Houghs Neck in Quincy with her husband, 18 month old daughter, and their dog. She enjoys spending time at the beach and on their boat floating around the south shore. Megan loves viewing the world through a child's eyes and watching them grow and learn.

Ms. Ann

Ms. Ann has been working as an Early Childhood teacher for 30 years with children ages two through Kindergarten. 

Singing, literacy, fun with American Sign Language, learning through exploring, and enjoying a sense of classroom community are some of her favorite things about teaching.

"Hearing children's laughter and being part of their day-to-day simple joys means the world to me." 

Ann and her husband live in Weymouth. She has a son who lives away at college. In her free time she enjoys walking, reading, relaxing at the beach with friends and family, and hunting for hidden treasures.

Ms. Alecia

Ms. Alecia, a Northeastern University graduate, joined the Sandcastles team in September 2017. Alecia has enjoyed teaching and working with children for several years now.  After having experience as a Kindergarten teacher aide in Quincy Public Schools and the preschool classrooms here at  Sandcastles she has decided to go back to school to pursue her teaching certification. In her free time Alecia enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.

Ms. Laurie

Ms. Laurie has graduated from Bridgewater State College in 1995 with a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education. She has worked in a preschool/ Pre-Kindergarten setting for over 25 years, 12 of which have been at Sandcastles. "Teaching is my passion, it is such a rewarding profession. To see the look of pride on a child's face as they master new skills is incredible to be a part of!" 

While in college Ms. Laurie also majored in Spanish and she loves to incorporate Spanish vocabulary into her classroom curriculum. "Children are true sponges! They never cease to amaze me on how much they take away from each new experience." 

In addition to her teaching hat, Ms. Laurie wears many others. She is a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister. She loves reading, vacationing, going to the beach, and supporting all of Boston's great sports teams. 

Dolphins Teacher

Ms. Jen

Ms. Jen is the Dolphin Room teacher. She has been here at Sandcastles since 2006 and has worked in the early childhood field for over 20 years. She graduated Bridgewater State College with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and Psychology. She started teaching Kindergarten right after graduation and has been teaching that age ever since. She loves being part of and watching the children as they become prepared for their public school experience. The sad part is having to say goodbye to them as they move on to their new "big" school. 

Ms. Jen and her husband have two children, their son graduated Sandcastles in 2014 and their daughter has been at Sandcastles since she was 3 months old. Family is important to her and she enjoys spending time with family and friends. The beach is her happy place and she tries to visit as often as she can.

Ms. Melinda

Ms. Crystal joined the Sandcastles team in August 2019. She lives in Hull with her husband, her 7 year old son, and 5 year old daughter. She has 7 years experience in early childhood education working with infants through school aged children. She earned her Preschool Teachers Certificate through Massasoit Community College. When her children were born Crystal took a break from teaching so she could spend more time with them while they were young. “I am so happy to be back doing what I love now and excited for the many years to come working at Sandcastles.”  Her favorite part of working with kids is helping they lean and prepare for their next big stop in growing. “I learn just as much from them as they do from me.” In her spare time she likes to read books, sketch, and cook as well as spending time with her husband and two children.

Ms. Melinda completed her degree in Early Childhood Education and Psychology at Quincy College and UMass Boston in 1997. She has been teaching for over 20 years 2 of which have been here at Sandcastles. Melinda has always had a passion for teaching ever since she was a young child. "It is such a fun, rewarding job to see the look of amazement after the children learn something exciting and new." 

Ms. Melinda was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. Melinda moved to Boston in 1990. Here her and her husband of twenty-five years have raised a son and a daughter. Her hobbies include traveling, camping, watching sports, movies, and spending time with her family and friends.

Ms. Sophie

Ms. Sophie just started working at Sandcastles this past August (2018). She spends a lot of her time in the Dolphins room and floats around the school filling in when teachers are on vacations.  She graduated from Weymouth high school in 2017 with her teacher certification from the Early Education Program they offer there. Sophie has experience with infant to preschool age. She is attending Quincy College this year to start her journey to pursue a degree in Elementary Education. She loves making connections with the children and seeing how happy they are when they finally master one of their struggles. Outside of Sandcastles, Sophie enjoys babysitting, drawing and hanging out with her friends and family.

Ms. Gayle

Ms. Gayle has been in the childcare field for 15 years, with the last eight and a half have being here at Sandcastles. Her experience ranges in toddler through preschool, but she really enjoys being in the toddler and infant classrooms. "I teach with a sense of humor and they best thing your child will learn in my care is manners." 

Ms. Gayle has five grown children and lives with her husband in Scituate. In her free time she enjoys working as a florist, and gardening.

Ms. Kristin

Ms. Kristin has a bachelor's degree in psychology and spent 4 years working in special education before joining The Department of Children and Families and working there for 5 years. She then made the decision to spend time with her family and for the past 5 years has been home caring for her 3 children. Ms. Kristin spends her time away from work with her children and husband at various sports and activities and with her friends. She loves spending time with the youngest members of the Sandcastles family and watching them learn new skills and interact with each other.

Big Dan

A former Sandcastles kid, Big Dan started working at Sandcastles in 2015. Dan is currently attending the University of Vermont pursuing a degree in Business, but he comes back to work at Sandcastles during school breaks and holidays. 

Outside of work Dan likes to spend time with his family and friends. Dan is the third of six children in his family and has plenty of experience with children of all ages.

Being the one of the only guys at our center, Big Dan brings with him a refreshing male presence that the kids really seem to enjoy. He loves coming to work and the children bring him a lot of joy. He is also a huge Boston sports fan and enjoys babysitting.

Ms. Caitlin

Miss Caitlin just recently joined the Sandcastles family in May 2019.She is so excited to work with the kids all throughout the summer and after school! She is a Junior at Cohasset High School. However, she learned everything she knows from her own experience at Sandcastles as a preschooler in 2005. She has had an amazing experience at Sandcastles both as a student and now as a teacher. Her favorite part of teaching is knowing that the children can experience the core values of learning that they will take with them through their school career. In her free time she likes to hang out at the beach with her friends.

Ms. Alexandra

Ms. Alex started at Sandcastles in the Summer of 2016. She graduated high school in 2017 and is attending school at Bridgewater State University  to pursue a degree in Elementary Education. 

Working at Sandcastles has helped her gain experience and figure out that she has a passion for working with children. It has helped her decide what she wants to do in the future. 

In her free time she enjoys doing All Star Cheerleading and being with her family.

Ms. Melinda started working at Sandcastles in the summer of 2019. She is a senior at Weymouth High School and plans to study Biochemistry when she goes to college next fall. Melinda has been working with kids for almost five years and loves working with all different age groups. Her favorite part about teaching is watching children develop new skills day to day. In her free time, Melinda enjoys running, reading, and spending time with her friends and family.

Ms. Lydia joined Sandcastles in the summer of 2019.  She graduated from Cohasset High School in June of 2019, and is pursuing her BFA degree in Digital Photography.  She is currently enrolled at Arizona State University’s online program, and continues to work at Sandcastles while she works on her degree.  Lydia is a Sandcastles graduate herself, and is thrilled to work in such a supportive and nurturing environment.  She has experience working with children through an internship with the Deer Hill School, where she spent a year in an independent study as a teacher’s aide.  Lydia loves running (distance and track) and road trips.  When she isn’t busy with school, work or running she can usually be found practicing her photography skills or running her photo booth business.

Ms. Lieren

Ms. Lieren joined the Sandcastles team at the end of summer in 2019. She was a student at Sandcastles and since then she has had experience working with kids as a gymnastics coach and a counselor at summer camps. "I love working with kids and my favorite part about teaching is being able to make connections with them, and foster their love for having fun and learning." Lieren is currently a senior at Cohasset High School. In her free time she likes to spend time outdoors and practice the piano. In college she plan to study early childhood education and then become a teacher.

Ms. Helena

Miss Helena joined sandcastles in 2016 and is a teacher assistant. She has been working with children for 8 years. She loves working with children of all ages! Miss Helena is a floater and works in almost every classroom. Engaging children in arts and crafts is important to her and something she enjoys participating in! She is also currently a junior at college and mainly works here during her summers off. Miss Helena loves to travel and experience new cultures. Meeting people from all over the world and seeing new places is something she is very passionate about. She has traveled to several countries where she has helped children and families in need.

Big Charlie started at Sandcastles in April 2019 as a Floating Aide. He is a Junior at North Quincy High School where he enjoys learning history and math, and plays hockey for the schools varsity team. Charlie really enjoys working with children and is wanting to pursue a career in the Education field when he goes to college. He is really looking forward to working with the children at Sandcastles this summer and during school breaks.

Ms. Teresa

Teresa started working at Sandcastles in May 2019. She lives in Hingham and attended all Hingham Public Schools growing up while also playing soccer, lacrosse, and running track. She graduated from Hingham High School in 2017 and is now currently at the University of Maryland where she is pursuing a degree in Public Health Science with a concentration in Human Development with an expected graduation of May 2021. She loves working with all age groups of children and seeing how much children grow and learn in such a short amount of time. Outside of Sandcastles, Teresa loves going to Cape Cod, hanging out with friends, and staying active
